Some fifth grade students took the Keith Haring a pit farther by creating a window effect with one of his pieces. Their rendition was quite good and as always lots of fun.

Fifth Graders had fun letting their imaginations go to work on this project. Their works included the signature figures of Keith Haring's work and became one of their favorites so far this year.

Fourth Graders created a complementary color piece for the artist Keith Haring. Design was also introduced to make this a colorful and eye catching project.

Third Graders took on the challenge of creating a figure in the style of Keith Haring and then designed a striking positive and negative design that you see here.

Second graders learned about the work of Keith Hairng and created radial designs. Students learned about radial symetry and how a composition can be balanced in the round.

Small animals and big hats gave 1st graders a chance to be creative and to use their imaginations.

Arf! Arf! The white signature dogs of Keith Haring are transformed by K-5 students. They chose bright colors to make these dogs truly unique.

The work of Keith Haring was a fun project for my K-4 students. They found his figures fun and with the motion lines they added, his style came alive

The most recent work which was completed in December, 2008 was the work of American artist, Keith Haring. This was probably the most colorful artist students have encountered thus far and he became one of their very favorites. Watch for more of his work in the next postings.

To round out the work of Jasper Johns, I return to another 4th grade student who captured well the image of the American flag in this 3-dimensional work.

Isn't this a lovely piece? Third graders modeled the piece by Jasper Johns that involved numbers. Although he used the numbers 0 - 9 in his piece, these students used four on top of each other to create a beautiful watercolor design.
Second grade focused on one of their initials to reflect the work of Jasper Johns.

Along with the K-4 students, 1st grade also examined closely the letter studies of Jasper Johns and then created their own letter study with mixed media.

My youngest students examined the letter and number studies by Jasper Johns and then created their own piece.

This third grade 3-D piece shows you another interpretation of the work of Jasper Johns

Jasper Johns, an American artist, was the third artist that students studied this year. The American Flag was one of his many themes as seen through the work of 5th Grade.

The second artist that students encountered this year was Grant Wood, the "farmer" artist from Iowa. In this first grade picture, you can easily identify Grant Wood's most famous work, "American Gothic."
Welcome to Mrs. C's Elementary Art! This blogging is a new thing for me but I hope to keep you informed of what my art students are doing. Their art is quite wonderful and amazing! Enjoy!
